This 2-story craftsman inspired 4,600 sf home was built in 2006 and the new owner wanted to completely transform the outside of the home as well as the landscaping and pool areas.
We started by painting the house white, replacing the shutters with bronze Bahama shutters, and replacing the front doors with black, impact glass double doors.
The pavers on the front porch, steps and walkway were replaced with 12x24 Tahoe tumbled marble pavers.
We kept the two big palms that were in the front yard and removed everything else, replacing it with easy to care for plantings with clean lines and a more modern theme. New sod was also laid in the front yard.
The existing freeform pool felt like a tropical oasis featuring a unique rock spa with a waterfall. We replastered the pool with a dark pebble finish to create a lagoon look and added new marble coping. The Areca Palms along the rear fence were kept as they provided screening from the street, and we enhanced the tropical effect with lower tiers of tropical plantings.
Creating a welcoming path on the side of the house leading to the pool area was a must. Clusia hedges were added for privacy and a 24x24 marble paver path set in beach pebbles was added and flanked with lush plantings.
A 24x24 marble paver path set in artificial turf was added behind the house, leading to the driveway.
Privacy from the neighboring two-story house was accomplished with Clusia Trees, and a Podocarpus hedge. Smaller tropical plantings were planted in front of the hedge and the entire area was covered with beach pebbles – no mulch for the dogs to dig in!
