Living in south Florida means that we can enjoy the great outdoors all year long. The coastal breezes and tropical climate make our area very appealing to seasonal as well as year-round residents. Allocating monies to making the most of our outdoor spaces is paramount. A recent client bought and renovated a villa in a wonderfully located upscale country club community in south Florida’s Palm City. After completely renovating the inside of the home, attention was now brought to making outdoor living a priority.

The backyard ran the length of the house but was only abut 45 feet deep and then descended down a hill to a retention pond. A desire for a Mediterranean garden with plenty of decking for an outdoor seating arrangement and an area for outdoor dining were the priorities, as was creating an area for a simple grill and screening out views to the neighbors. Fruit trees and cool colors were preferred, as was an herb garden. The following before and after elevations depict what the area looked like before and how the 3D color elevations bring the area to life and show the potential of the area.

A travertine deck runs the length of the house and the screened area encloses the dining area. The trellises with bougainvillea beautifully screen out unwanted views while grounding the space. Tropical plants, fruit trees and the edged herb garden with fountain create a Mediterranean feel.
